There was a model 103-11 over/under sold by Sears. Sears used the Ranger trademark in addition to JC Higgins. This model was made by Marlin and is essentially the same as a Marlin Model 90. Serial number information is not available to date this gun, as it is not known if the numbers ran consecutive ly with the Marlin marked models. Marlin manufactured this model from 1937 to 1958. The earlier guns had a separated space between the barrels; This version was made from 1937 to 1949.
Between 1949 and 1958 the barrels were solid together. Per Brophy Sears rangers were sold prior to WWII. They were marked JC Higgins after WWII. The Blue book of gun Values is wrong. Model 90's prior to 1949 were solid between the barrels and open between the barrels after 1949.

I've been trying to find, without success, a link that shows manufacture dates for this pistol. The Serial number is 177,6**.
